The Great Waterfall Adventure

Salt Creek Falls

Salt Creek Falls

One of my favorite features in nature is a waterfall. Big, small, it doesn’t matter I love them all. Luckily I live in an area of the county that has waterfalls in much abundance. It seems that Oregon, has them everywhere and there is an especially high number of them within two hours of Eugene. This spring my brother, his fiancé, a couple friends and I took trips to several of the nearby waterfalls.

Abiqua Falls

We made it to Salt Creek Falls, which is out past Oakridge, Koosah and Sahalie falls, which are located east of Eugene on highway 126 towards Sisters. Abiqua Falls and Silver Falls which are north of Eugene, close to Salem and Trestle Creek Falls which are located south of Eugene, close to Cottage Grove.

South Silver Falls

South Silver Falls

There is something mesmerizing about the power and speed of the water that cascades from Waterfalls. Each fall has its own individual characteristics that you won’t find in another fall; each has its own distinct beauty.

Lower South Silver Falls

Getting to these falls is also part of the fun. None of the hikes have been strenuous, although the Abiqua trail can get a little slick as some fellow hikers found out.

Lower Trestle Creek Falls

All of these waterfalls are inland, I haven't explored much as far as waterfalls towards the coast.

Upper Trestle Creek Falls

Upper Trestle Creek Falls

There are more falls that we have not gotten to visit yet, but I consider this a good start, can’t wait to explore the rest!

Sahalie Falls

Koosah Falls
