Take Nothing For Granted
/A friend received some bad news today; he found out that he might miss the rest of the year due to an injury. This is his senior year of high school and he might miss Football and Lacrosse season. You only get one senior year, it’s your turn to be the big dog on campus and now he could miss it all.
It’s hard for me to imagine what he is feeling right now; I try and put myself in his shoes. I don’t know how my life would have been like if I hadn’t been healthy my senior year. Talking with my friend I remember how it felt to be injured and not able to participate in sports. It’s a time when you attitude makes all the difference and I hope my friend keeps his head up. My sophomore year in high school, I sprained my ankle playing football and was on crutches for three weeks. I remember sitting around practice watching everyone else run around. I missed half the season and most of basketball season. The day I was able to walk without crutches was a very happy day; I couldn’t help smiling that whole day.
We take many things for granted in life, lately I’ve been getting reminders that I need to appreciate even the most simplistic things in life. I’m going to start trying to appreciate one thing everyday that I take for granted; today it’s walking.
