Creating Happiness
/“Some people pursue happiness, others create it” reads the only piece of art in my apartment. Every morning it’s the first thing I see, and I see it every time I walk out of my bedroom. It helps me start every day in the mindset that I can go out and half ass my job or I can go out bust my ass and create future happiness. Some days its hard to focus on the end game when the minutia of everyday work and life gets in the way, that’s when I have to remind myself where I’m going.
Creating happiness for yourself is beneficial, however sometimes the best and easiest way to create happiness is to forget about yourself and help others around you. This idea of service has been engrained in me by my grandpa, “cast your bread on the water,” he says “and it will come back to you ten fold.” How you help others can be as simple as saying “hi” or as complex as giving them hours of your time and listening to them. What ever you do, even if it seems like nothing to you, can have a big impact on them. You never know what small deed could change someone’s outlook.
Everyday I’m going to try to go out of my way to do something for some one else. This will be a great exercise for me to concentrate on while creating happiness for the person I’m helping while also creating happiness for myself as well. I want to be a person who creates happiness, not only for myself but also for those around me.
