Opportunities/ Sunny Days

Opportunities are like sunny days in Eugene; they don’t come around very often. Every day that it is sunny in Eugene is an opportunity to get out and enjoy life, to go for a walk in the woods or a hike up Spencer’s Butte. A sunny day brings a different viewpoint on life, a more positive outlook.  When there are no opportunities or sunny days its easy to lose your positive look on life. In those times you have to reach deep and force yourself to be positive. Once you get an opportunity or a sunny its hard to find a reason not to be positive. Sometimes in life like winters in Eugene you don’t get the opportunities (or sunny days) that you would like or deserve, but you have to keep looking forward. Like my uncle Dave always says, “don’t look back, you’ll fall in the hole in front of you.” Today is a warm (by Eugene standards) day and it’s sunny. After the week I had getting little to no sleep most nights I could easily be sleeping in my apartment, but it’s a sunny day and they can’t be wasted. I got up this morning and hiked Spencer’s Butte and now I’m drinking ice tea enjoying the sunshine while writing this. You have to take advantage od the opportunities you are given, you never know how many opportunities you will be given in life. “You have to grab opportunity by the forelocks” my grandpa always tells me. Opportunities can be easy, and sometimes you have to get out of your own way to accept the opportunities given you. When you do that it makes it all worthwhile, what opportunities do you have right now? Will grab them by the forelocks?
